Zhou Weiping, Deputy President, Chief Physician, Professor. Dr. Zhou graduated from Guangzhou Medical University in 1985 and completed one year of advanced study at the Cancer Hospital of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences in 1990. He has participated in numerous international oncology conferences and national cancer congresses and has been involved in several national oncology collaboration groups. He has also organized and presided over multiple academic conferences on gastrointestinal tumors in Hainan Province.
He specializes in surgery-based multidisciplinary treatment integrating chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and biotherapy, as well as minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery. He was among the first in the province to perform sphincter-preserving double anastomosis surgery for low rectal cancer and laparoscopic minimally invasive surgery for gastrointestinal tumors. He has also led the development of multidisciplinary treatment (MDT) for gastrointestinal tumors and contributed to the establishment of Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) protocols.
Scientific research: His clinical study on portal vein catheterization with 5-FU for colorectal cancer won the Fourth Prize for Scientific and Technological Advancement in Hainan Province. He has led multiple research projects funded by the Hainan Provincial Health Department and the Hainan Natural Science Foundation. He has published more than 40 papers in leading domestic and international journals. Dr. Zhou actively participates in charitable work. He was awarded "Outstanding Medical Volunteer" by the China Charity Federation in 2009 and received the "Outstanding Contribution Award" in 2017.
