Professor Yu Shuyong specializes in minimally invasive treatment of thyroid and gastrointestinal tumors. He has been at the forefront of minimally invasive oncology surgery in the medical field of Hainan Province. He pioneered radiofrequency ablation and microwave therapy for thyroid nodules in Hainan, with over 3,000 ablation cases and an extremely low complication rate. Currently, he has performed laparoscopic radical gastrectomy, laparoscopic radical resection of colon cancer, laparoscopic radical resection of rectal cancer, combined thoracoscopic and laparoscopic tumor resection, single-port pneumoperitoneum mediastinoscopy combined with laparoscopic radical resection of esophageal cancer, single-port laparoscopic radical resection of gastrointestinal tumors, endoscopic radical resection of thyroid cancer, and thyroid tumor ablation. In clinical practice, Professor Yu Shuyong has always emphasized standardized treatment for various tumor diseases and formulated reasonable and standardized tumor treatment plans based on the specific condition of each tumor patient.

He was awarded the "Golden Lancet" Award, the highest honor, in the 2025 "Honored Doctors" selection jointly hosted by Global Times, Health Times, and Life Times, which are affiliated with Peoples Daily. President Yu is the first surgeon in Hainan and the only one from a local medical institution in China to receive this prestigious award; he is also an expert with outstanding contributions in Hainan Province, a provincial excellent expert, a recipient of the May 1st Labor Medal in Hainan Province, and an expert with special allowance from the military (Category II).
