Recently, a video of a 30-year-old woman who had a heart attack at the subway entrance and was helped by the crowd went viral on the internet.

According to the "Report on Cardiovascular Health and Diseases in China (2022)", there are approximately 330 million cardiovascular patients in our country. The number of deaths due to cardiovascular diseases accounts for nearly half of all causes of death in China each year. For every 5 deaths, at least 2 are caused by cardiovascular diseases. Cardiovascular diseases have become the leading cause of death in our country, and the prevalence of these diseases is continuously increasing, with a significant trend towards affecting younger individuals.

Prevention is more important than treatment. Cardiovascular diseases have a rapid onset, pose challenges in treatment, and have a high risk of death. The mortality rate for coronary artery diseases is particularly high, being the highest globally. Modern medicine has been exploring early detection and assessment of cardiovascular disease risks, as well as effective prevention and reduction of cardiovascular disease incidence. Currently, there are several methods available for coronary artery examination, such as CT angiography (CTA) and coronary digital subtraction angiography (DSA). However, these methods may have drawbacks including the burden of contrast agents and potential damage from ionizing radiation.

In view of this, the medical community continues to strive for advanced diagnostic methods that are non-invasive and can accurately reflect the condition of the coronary arteries. The application of next-generation technologies has facilitated the upgrading of medical equipment, and high-end magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) has achieved non-invasive, fast, and high-resolution imaging of the coronary arteries. Cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (MRA) examination of the coronary arteries enables comprehensive and intuitive visualization of the coronary arteries and major blood vessels in multiple planes, parameters, and sequences. This technology is safe and radiation-free, with good repeatability. It holds unique value, particularly for the prevention and screening of sudden cardiac death, as it allows for the early identification of risks and proactive preventive measures.

Recently, the magnetic resonance coronary angiography (MRCA) project, which does not require contrast agents and sets a new standard for non-invasive cardiac coronary artery examination, was first implemented at Hainan Chengmei Hospital-the International Department of Hainan Cancer Hospital. Renowned domestic experts in the field, together with industry specialists, have joined forces to combine cutting-edge instruments and high-definition imaging with the highest level of image interpretation in the country. This has resulted in the formation of a "national-level" diagnostic capability, aiming to comprehensively evaluate cardiac function and significantly improve the predictability of sudden cardiac death.

International innovative equipment  Achieves high-speed and high-definition coronary artery imaging.

Dr. Guo Juan, leader of the project, introduced that Hainan Chengmei Hospital has introduced the first ultra-high-end 3.0T ElitionX magnetic resonance imaging system in Hainan. This system can complete whole-heart coronary artery imaging in 1.8 seconds and full-body tumor screening in 1 minute. It enhances the contrast between the myocardium and blood pool, resolves motion artifacts caused by pulsation and respiration, achieves a high success rate, and provides precise and detailed imaging, thus achieving ultra-high-definition coronary artery imaging.

"National-level" service  With guaranteed professional quality

To effectively perform magnetic resonance coronary and cardiovascular examinations, the hospital is led by Professor Guo Qiyong, a renowned domestic authority in medical imaging. Professor Lu Jianping from Army Military Medical University Changhai Hospital, Professor Xia Liming from Tongji Hospital affiliated to Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Professor Hou Yang from Shengjing Hospital affiliated to China Medical University, and Professor Xu Jianrong, a chief expert from Renji Hospital affiliated to Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, were invited to join the "national-level" professional team. They provide "one-on-one" report interpretation for patients, conduct systematic evaluations of examination results, and offer "one-stop" health management services for individuals with specific needs.

With the health guidance provided by the "national-level" professional team, it can effectively assist the patients in sudden cardiac death alert and evaluation, helping to prevent or reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases.

Conducting professional magnetic resonance imaging examinations

Promoting specialized health services as a top priority  With multiple discounts and benefits for the public.

Since the beginning of December, Chengmei Hospital has successfully performed nearly a hundred cases of magnetic resonance coronary imaging examinations and expert interpretations. It has been widely welcomed and highly praised by users. It highlights the remarkable advantages of safety, non-invasiveness, fast imaging, high image clarity, and precise interpretation. The project is based on advanced equipment and the strong collaboration of top authorities. It not only allows for the assessment of coronary arteries but also provides better visualization of myocardial conditions, understanding of myocardial injury, and interpretation of myocardial pathologies such as myocardial fibrosis and myocarditis. This enables a more comprehensive and accurate evaluation of cardiac function.

In early January, Mr. and Mrs. Jia expressed their gratitude by writing a letter specifically to thank Hainan Chengmei Hospital for the successful implementation of their magnetic resonance coronary imaging examination. Mr. Jia expressed: "We deeply touched by the hospitals commitment to patient-centered care. We are grateful for the patient and meticulous high-level image analysis and interpretation provided by Professor Xu from Shanghai. We are also thankful for the caring assistance provided by the medical staff, who showed attention to every detail!" At the same time, he also said that the modernization of the hospital diagnosis and treatment hardware combined with the humanization of the service concept, is the direction of medical development recognized by the patient, Hainan Chengmei Hospital has led all the hospitals in Hainan in fulfill this concept.  He hoped to "enchance publicity efforts to effectively solve the urgent problems of Hainan patients".

Recently, in order to meet the needs of more customers, Hainan Chengmei Hospita has launched the "Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Health Card". This card offers free services such as pre-examination assessment by professional doctors, resting in VIP rooms before the examination, dedicated companion service during the examination, health assessment reports, and one-on-one interpretation of reports by domestic authoritative experts. In addition, corresponding discounted examination activities are also provided.
