According to the latest cancer incidence data released by the Provincial Cancer Prevention and Control Center, liver cancer is one of the major malignant tumors in Hainan, ranking second in terms of new incidence rate. However, it tops the list in terms of mortality rate, indicating its significant threat to public health.
The 18th of this month marks the 24th "National Protect Liver Day". The theme of the activity of this year is "Early Prevention, Early Screening: Stay Away from Cirrhosis." The aim is to call for collective action from society as a whole, popularizing knowledge about the prevention and treatment of liver fibrosis, promoting proactive screening, standardized treatment, and regular follow-up, in order to reduce the incidence of cirrhosis.
According to experts from Hainan Cancer Hospital and Hainan Chengmei Hospital, "early detection, early diagnosis, and early treatment" are the "panacea" for liver diseases, especially for the prevention and treatment of liver cancer.
Experts pointed out that over 90% of liver cancer cases are related to chronic hepatitis and cirrhosis. Therefore, effective prevention of chronic liver diseases forms the foundation for preventing and controlling liver cancer. With the development of modern medical technology, many liver diseases can be prevented from worsening and the associated health risks can be reduced through early prevention and standardized treatment.
