August 1 Army Day

On August 1st, on the occasion of the 97th anniversary of the founding of the Chinese Peoples Liberation Army, Hainan Cancer Hospital and Hainan Chengmei Hospital held an "August 1" symposium to celebrate Army Day together with the hospitals ex-servicemen and families of active servicemen.

The national conference on veterans affairs, held on July 29th, emphasized that veterans are the precious assets of the Party and the state, and they play an important role in advancing Chinese-style modernization. The work related to veterans concerns reform, development, stability, as well as the cause of strengthening the military and revitalizing the army.

Shi Yaohui, Secretary of the Party Committee and Executive President of Hainan Cancer Hospital and President of Hainan Chengmei Hospital, recalled his "military experience" and expressed his high respect for the military. He said that, in accordance with the important instructions of the Party and state leaders, we must effectively receive and resettle veterans well, provide good services and protection, educate and manage them well, give full play to their roles and safeguard their rights and interests, so that the military will become a profession honored by the whole society, and veterans will become people respected by the whole society. At the same time, he expressed his hope that the hospitals ex-servicemen and military spouses would forever retain the true colors of revolutionary soldiers, uphold firm beliefs, love and serve the country, and strive to make achievements. He hoped that this group of ex-servicemen and military families would become a backbone in the process of hospital construction and development, contributing to the development of the hospital and the Hainan Free Trade Port.

The symposium was presided over by Gao Jihe, an ex-serviceman, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, and Vice President of Hainan Cancer Hospital. He led everyone to jointly recall the glorious years of military service and the arduous struggle of the Chinese Peoples Liberation Army, emphasizing the significant contributions made by soldiers in defending the country, fighting against epidemics, and responding to natural disasters. He also specifically mentioned that the ex-servicemen and military spouses working in the hospital have also performed exceptionally well on the medical frontline, carrying forward the excellent traditions and selfless dedication of soldiers.

The ex-servicemen and military wives who were present spoke eagerly. Among them were senior medical experts, business backbone, and the core force of logistical support. Everyone used simple words and true emotions to share their unforgettable experiences in the military camp and their feelings after retiring and working in the hospital. They all actively expressed their attitudes, saying that they would not fade away after retirement, and would work hard and provide good service in their new job positions in the hospital.

Yu Shuyong, a retired military man, a well-known specialist in gastrointestinal surgery and minimally invasive thyroid treatment in Hainan, and the vice president of Hainan Cancer Hospital and Hainan Chengmei Hospital, recalled his growth experience and journey in the army. After withdrawing from active duty, Yu Shuyong worked in the hospital, actively as a positive contribution to the cause of Hainans tumour prevention and treatment.
