On January 17, Hainan Chengmei Hospital established the Alzheimer's disease (AD) diagnosis and treatment center, joined the National Clinical Medical Research Center for Geriatric Diseases of Xuanwu Hospital of Capital Medical University——China AD Preclinical Alliance, and was awarded the "China AD Preclinical Alliance Member Unit".


According to statistics, about 55 million people are suffering from AD or other types of dementia in the world, and the number of AD patients in China has exceeded 10 million, ranking first in the world. AD has brought huge economic burdens and mental pressures to patients and their families and has also caused heavy economic and medical pressures on society.

At the awarding ceremony, Professor Han Ying, Chairman of the China AD Preclinical Alliance and Chief Physician of the Department of Neurology at Xuanwu Hospital of Capital Medical University, also attended and delivered a speech. Professor Han Ying said that AD is a disease that seriously affects the quality of life of patients and family happiness, and its preclinical research and intervention are crucial. Hainan Chengmei Hospital will inject new vitality into the alliance after joining it. It is hoped that the two sides can complement each others strengths and develop together in future cooperation, make greater contributions to my countrys AD prevention and treatment, and benefit Hainan AD patients.

Shi Yaohui, executive director of Hainan Chengmei Hospital, said that as a tertiary hospital specializing in geriatric diseases, Hainan Chengmei Hospital has been committed to providing high-quality, comprehensive diagnosis and treatment of geriatric diseases to elderly patients in the three years since its establishment. The establishment of the AD diagnosis and treatment center and joining the China AD Preclinical Alliance is an important measure to actively respond to the countrys call for strengthening elderly health services, and it is also an important opportunity for the hospital to improve the diagnosis and treatment of elderly diseases and promote discipline construction. The hospital will rely on the national platform and use the alliance as a link to strengthen cooperation and exchanges with other units in the alliance in response to Hainans AD disease prevention and treatment needs, continuously improve the early diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of AD, and better provide scientific and technological support for the diagnosis and treatment of elderly clinical diseases.

After the unveiling ceremony, Professor Han Ying gave a special lecture on the importance of early diagnosis of Alzheimers disease to the participants. She pointed out that early diagnosis is crucial for the treatment of Alzheimers disease and the improvement of a patients quality of life. Timely identification and intervention can effectively delay the progression of the disease and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. The participants then had in-depth exchanges and discussions, exploring the future direction of cooperation in Alzheimers disease research, early diagnosis, and treatment.

Director Dai Wenxin, a visiting expert and geriatrician at the AD Diagnosis and Treatment Center, said the center is equipped with advanced diagnostic and treatment technology equipment such as advanced biomarker detection and PET-specific imaging. Relying on a multidisciplinary diagnosis and treatment team including neurology, geriatric medicine, psychology, rehabilitation, and medical nutrition, the center has established a complete Alzheimers disease diagnosis and treatment process, providing one-stop convenient services, establishing long-term files for patients, conducting regular follow-ups, and dynamically adjusting treatment plans. It also provides patients and their families with all-around support such as disease science popularization, nursing guidance, and psychological counseling, effectively improving the patients quality of life and family coping ability.
