On March 8th, the outpatient hall of Hainan Chengmei Hospital was bustling with activity. The Hainan Cancer Hospital and Hainan Chengmei Hospital jointly launched a "Womens Day" free clinic activity with the theme of "Caring for Womens Health-Achieving a Better Life", offering special health care to a large number of women.
At the free clinic site, women came in an endless stream for consultations and examinations. The free clinic area on the first floor of the outpatient building was clearly divided and in good order. Experts from multiple departments, including gynecology, breast surgery, and health management, were on-site to provide professional and detailed one-on-one diagnosis, treatment, and health consultation services for each woman who came there.
In the examination area, Ms. Wang was waiting for a breast color Doppler ultrasound examination. She said, "Im usually so busy with work that I rarely have time to go to the hospital for a comprehensive check-up. When I heard about this free clinic and the free examinations, I came right away. The hospital has thought very carefully and provided such a great opportunity for us. Im really grateful." Ms. Wang also mentioned that she had been feeling something was off with her body recently, but wasnt sure if there was a problem. After the preliminary diagnosis and patient explanation by the experts, she felt much more at ease.
This free clinic covered a number of free in-depth screening and assessment services for common and frequently-occurring diseases among women. Free pelvic and breast color Doppler ultrasound examinations, as well as popular items such as cervical methylation testing, high-risk HPV screening, and vaginal microecology evaluation, were offered. On the night when the information was released, nearly 500 free clinic slots were snapped up.
In particular, cervical methylation testing, as a new molecular testing technology, has the advantages of early and accurate early warning in the screening and diagnosis of cervical cancer and its precancerous lesions, drawing many women to queue up for consultations and tests.
Ms. Li, an HPV-positive patient, came specifically for cervical methylation testing. She said, "After learning that I was HPV-positive, I was very anxious and didnt know what to do. This free clinic not only allows me to do such an advanced test for free, but also allows experts patiently to answer my questions. It gives me a clearer understanding of my condition and I know what to do for the next step of treatment. Such a free clinic activity is really meaningful."
Experts Advice
Cao Aie, the director of the Gynecology Department of Hainan Cancer Hospital and a gynecological expert at Hainan Chengmei Hospital, suggested that women who have had sexual intercourse should have HPV or TCT screening alone or in combination at least once every two to three years. It is also recommended that even after getting the HPV vaccine, it is still necessary for women to have regular cervical cancer screenings to achieve early detection, early diagnosis, and early treatment.
This free clinic is also one of the series of activities to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the founding of Hainan Cancer Hospital. In addition to the on-site free examinations and consultation services, during the event, the Health Check-up Center of Hainan Cancer Hospital also launched a variety of highly discounted physical examination packages and preferential activities for HPV vaccines (bivalent, quadrivalent, and nonavalent), providing more health protection options for women.
