March in Spring: A Time of Blooming Life!
From March 28th to 29th, Hainan Cancer Hospital and Hainan Chengmei Hospital jointly held the first mid-level cadres and young talent training in 2025 with the theme of “Zero-Distance Communication, Warm-Hearted Management”.
At the important historical juncture of the 10th anniversary of the founding of Hainan Cancer Hospital, based on the needs of the high-quality development of the two hospitals and the remarkable results achieved in the systematic training in 2024, the two hospitals further deepened the construction of the talent training system. This training focused on enhancing two core capabilities: “management” and “communication”. Through the iterative upgrade of course content and the innovative optimization of the training model, they strived to create a more targeted and effective advanced training plan, providing solid talent support for the development of the hospitals in the new era.
“Communication accounts for up to 75% of management work. Many management problems, when traced back to their roots, are caused by poor communication.” Professor Guo Qiyong, a well-known hospital management expert in China and the acting chairman of the board of directors of Hainan Cancer Hospital, repeatedly emphasized the importance of effective communication during the teaching. He also said that communication is a key tool for resolving work conflicts, enhancing team collaboration, and improving management efficiency.
Professor Guo Qiyong looked back on his career experiences of using excellent communication skills to solve problems and promote the innovation of relevant hospital work. He profoundly expounded on the importance of communication skills in helping to achieve work goals.
“When communicating with patients and employees, details such as personal language style and facial expressions will directly affect the trust and recognition of patients and employees.” With years of management experience, Professor Guo Qiyong deeply integrated the essence of medical humanistic care and modern management science, and precisely analyzed the art of language expression and the key points of listening... He drew wisdom from theories such as the barrel effect and the 80/20 rule, vividly demonstrating the skills of collaborative cooperation and precise personnel deployment in team management, as well as the significance of achieving common learning and growth between the team and individuals.
In the rapidly changing contemporary medical industry, mastering only a single professional skill is far from enough. Cultivating Multi-skilled Management Professional has become an urgent need of the times. Shi Yaohui, the Party secretary and executive director of Hainan Cancer Hospital, said that it is of great significance for experts in the fields of natural science and medical science to master management knowledge and skills in terms of improving team collaboration efficiency and achieving efficient allocation of medical resources. He comprehensively interpreted the definition and core connotation of management, as well as the paths to improving the core qualities and capabilities of managers, and emphasized that excellent managers need to have professional authority, leadership quality, management effectiveness, and humanistic care.
Liu Yuehong, the vice president of Hainan Cancer Hospital, skillfully borrowed the communication wisdom of the ancient sage Guiguzi to bring an inspiring sharing in a relaxed, interesting, and highly interactive way. She closely combined the ancient communication wisdom with modern medical management practices, and explained many practical communication skills such as “Art of Gaining Favor”, “Preemptive Problem-Solving” and “Strategic Communication” in a simple but profound way, helping talents to improve their communication abilities, optimize team collaboration, and promote the improvement of hospital management levels.
Tu Ruisha, the director of the First Gastrointestinal Surgery Ward / Minimally Invasive Surgery of Hainan Cancer Hospital, and Xu Xianhua, the director of the Pathology Department, based on their rich work practices, deeply shared the effective communication skills in diverse scenarios such as doctor-patient communication and department collaboration.
On March 29th, in view of the characteristics of young talents, a special event titled “Seeking Wisdom from ‘Journey to the West’, Master Leadership “Techniques” —— Traverse Classics, Foster Excellent Management”. Based on the story of Journey to the West, the characters and plots of the famous work were skillfully integrated into management scenarios. By analyzing the characteristics of various demons and monsters, young talents were guided to compare their daily work, explore their own “behavioral drawbacks”, and then eliminate these drawbacks to achieve a dual upgrade in cognition and behavior.
Talents are the core driving force for the development of hospitals. Professor Yang Shufen, the vice president of Hainan Cancer Hospital, hoped that through this training, the communication and collaboration abilities of hospital employees could be further enhanced, a good atmosphere of communication and management could be fostered within the hospital, the overall service quality and operation efficiency of the hospital could be improved, and a better medical experience could be provided for patients.
The leaders of the two hospitals, mid-level cadres, and young backbone talents participated in the training.
