Medical-Enterprise Collaboration: Pioneering a New Health Model

Recently, experts from Hainan Chengmei Hospital and the Hainan Branch of the Agricultural Bank of China have deeply integrated to carry out health lectures and science popularization activities for employees, creating a new model of health through medical-enterprise integration.

Since last year, Hainan Chengmei Hospital, in collaboration with Hainan Cancer Hospital, the Health Management Center of Hainan Cancer Hospital, and other units, has actively implemented the “Healthy Hainan Action” plan. They have integrated with banks, insurance companies, and other enterprises, as well as streets and communities, to promote the popularization of health knowledge, build an elderly health service system, carry out cancer prevention and treatment, and promote early detection and diagnosis of tumors. By extending high-quality medical resources to communities and families, they are fulfilling their social responsibilities and contributing to the development of the health industry in Hainan Free Trade Port and the construction of “Healthy Hainan”.

Recently, a lively health popularization and education activity was in full swing at the Hainan Branch of the Agricultural Bank of China. A team of experts from multiple departments, including the Department of Respiratory Medicine of Hainan Cancer Hospital and the Cardiac Rehabilitation Department of Hainan Chengmei Hospital, gathered there. With professional expertise and enthusiasm, they answered health questions for free and provided comprehensive and considerate professional advice and guidance to employees and their families.

The venue was packed. People actively asked questions about the health problems they had accumulated in their daily lives.

During the sharing of “Basic Knowledge of Lung Cancer and Health Management” by Professor Dong Wen, the vice president of Hainan Cancer Hospital and an expert in respiratory medicine, many employees asked questions related to pulmonary nodules and sleep management. Professor Dong Wen said that pulmonary nodules are relatively common in physical examinations. Most of them are caused by inflammation, infection, or scars from previous diseases. And they are benign. However, a small number may have the potential to become malignant. Judging their nature needs to consider factors such as size, shape, and density. Small nodules with benign characteristics can be regularly reviewed, while larger or abnormally shaped nodules require further examination. During the follow-up period, it is very important to avoid the stimulation of tobacco and various harmful substances.

Professor Dong Wen suggested that for people who have long been troubled by sleep problems due to work pressure, they should stop using electronic products half an hour before going to bed. They should arrange exercise reasonably, preferably in the afternoon or evening. Mentally, they can practice meditation and deep breathing before going to bed. Environmentally, keep the bedroom quiet, adjust the temperature to 20-22°C, and the humidity to 40%-60% to improve sleep in all aspects, which is beneficial to health.

In addition to disease-related knowledge, “weight management” also received much attention. Dr. Shu Yue, an associate chief physician in the Cardiac Rehabilitation Department of Hainan Chengmei Hospital, reminded everyone in the article “Practical Interventions for Weight Loss without Rebound” that obesity not only affects appearance but is also an important cause of chronic diseases. The key to scientific weight loss lies in a reasonable diet and regular exercise. In terms of diet, control calorie intake, reduce the intake of high-sugar and high-fat foods, and ensure an intake of high-quality protein. It is recommended to engage in about 150 minutes of moderate-to-high-intensity exercise per week, including aerobic exercises such as brisk walking, jogging, and swimming, as well as resistance and flexibility training.

The experts vividly explained the key points of disease prevention and treatment and healthy living by combining clinical cases, enabling the participating employees and their families to feel rewarding.

Mr. Li, among the event attendees, remarked with heartfelt emotion, “This activity has given me a clearer understanding of the health plans for my family and myself. It’s really a great help in our daily lives.”

According to statistics, since last year, Hainan Chengmei Hospital, in conjunction with experts from Hainan Cancer Hospital, has carried out 40 health education activities in enterprises, rural areas, and communities, benefiting 9,904 people. The “Chengmei Model” for a healthy Hainan has initially taken shape.
