"If I hadnt met Professor Yang Nong, I would still be struggling with anxiety over cancer metastasis..." When talking about his anti-cancer journey after meeting Professor Yang Nong, a renowned expert in lung cancer diagnosis and treatment in China and a specially-appointed expert at Hainan Cancer Hospital, Mr. Lin, a 67-year-old patient, smiled gratefully.

Half a year after the diagnosis of lung cancer, the disease had metastasized, leaving the entire family in a state of uncertainty

Mr. Lin, a retired veteran who had always been in good health, suddenly developed an unexplained cough and expectoration in January 2024. After examination and puncture, he was diagnosed with lung cancer.

In February of the same year, Mr. Lin underwent a radical resection for lung cancer, and the pathological results indicated adenosquamous carcinoma. After the surgery, the doctors assessed that no adjuvant therapy was necessary. He thought his life could gradually return to normal, but fates test came again.

In August of the same year, a follow-up examination revealed an enlargement of one adrenal gland, and postoperative pathology indicated metastatic adenocarcinoma.

"I was really confused at that time, not knowing how to proceed with the treatment," said Mr. Lin. People around him had different opinions. Some urged him to undergo further treatment immediately, while others advised him to "not bother". The diverse suggestions made him even more confused and at a loss, and his whole family also felt perplexed.

Just when he was in despair, Mr. Lin learned that Professor Yang Nong, an expert in lung cancer diagnosis and treatment, would regularly consult at Hainan Cancer Hospital, and he often saw the lung cancer science popularization videos shared by him. "From the videos, we could see that Professor Yang is very professional, and the positive feedback from patients is also very sincere. At that time, we felt that this must be a good expert who can help us!" Mr. Lin said.

Professor Yang can put me at ease

At the end of August 2024, Mr. Lin arrived at Hainan Cancer Hospital.

Professor Yang Nong conducted a comprehensive analysis of Mr. Lins condition based on the latest imaging data. He believes that Mr. Lins tumor exhibits a relatively mild biological aggressiveness with oligometastasis, and the tumor micrometastasis monitoring has consistently been negative. Therefore, no postoperative adjuvant therapy is necessary, and regular CT scans and tumor molecular micrometastasis monitoring are sufficient.

These words brought a sense of relief to Mr. Lin, who had been anxious for half a month. From then on, he arrived punctually for Professor Yangs outpatient follow-up appointments every time.

Mr. Lin has been under Professor Yang Nongs follow-up for nearly a year, and his current physical condition is good. After the surgery, he no longer feels chest pain, but occasionally experiences discomfort. Professor Yang Nong explained that this is due to the impact of the lung surgery on the nerves, which is a normal occurrence post-surgery. He advised Mr. Lin to perform pulmonary function exercises as required.

Mr. Lin said, "Every time I come here for a follow-up examination with Professor Yang Nong, it always puts me at ease!"
