Grandma Yu Qinghua, who is 104 years old this year, is a veteran of the Qiongya Column and a war veteran of the Anti-Japanese War.
Ten years ago, when 94-year-old Grandma Yu received her beloved commemorative medal for the 70th anniversary of the victory of the War of Resistance, she made a wish: she hoped to receive another commemorative medal ten years later.

Recently, staff from the Provincial Elderly Cadre Office and the Provincial Supply and Marketing Cooperative of Hainan Province specially visited the Cardiac Rehabilitation Department of Hainan Chengmei Hospital to present Ms. Yu Qinghua, who was undergoing health rehabilitation, with a commemorative medal issued by the state to mark the 80th anniversary of the victory of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, thus fulfilling the elderlys dream.
Yu Qinghua was born in May 1921. In her early years, she joined the Qiongya Column and engaged in logistical support work. She fought with the troops across Hainan Island, participating in the war against Japan and the Liberation War. Grandma Yu experienced the Anti-Japanese War and the Liberation War, and is a surviving veteran of the Peoples Republic of China. She was awarded a commemorative medal for the liberation of Hainan Island by the Fourth Field Army of the Central South Military Region, and received commemorative medals for the 60th anniversary of the victory of the Anti-Japanese War and the 70th anniversary of the victory of the Anti-Fascist War, issued by the CPC Central Committee, the State Council, and the Central Military Commission in 2005 and 2015 respectively.

According to the introduction of Yu Nainais daughter, in March this year, due to her advanced age, her mother, who had always been in good health, suddenly suffered from multiple organ failure involving the heart, lungs, liver, kidneys, and other organs. She was urgently transferred to the Cardiac Rehabilitation Department of Hainan Chengmei Hospital for treatment.
Hainan Chengmei Hospital is a specialized hospital that specializes in comprehensive treatment of geriatric diseases. Shu Yue, director of the Cardiac Rehabilitation Department at the hospital, explained that when Mrs. Yu first arrived, multiple functional indicators of her body reached critical values, and she developed severe lung infections and other problems. Considering Mrs. Yus multiple chronic diseases, it was easy to "drop the ball" during the treatment process. The Cardiac Rehabilitation Department promptly initiated a hospital-wide MDT (multidisciplinary team) consultation for Mrs. Yu.
Professor Zheng Yin, Vice President of Hainan Chengmei Hospital and a renowned expert in cardiovascular medicine, and other experts fully engaged in the treatment work, and tailored a detailed treatment plan for the elderly based on the opinions of experts from multiple disciplines such as respiratory, rehabilitation, traditional Chinese medicine, and nutrition. After a treatment cycle, all indicators of Grandma Yu gradually "returned" to normal.
After the condition was initially controlled, the nutrition experts at Hainan Chengmei Hospital customized a "diet plan" for Grandma Yu every week to enhance her nutrition. The rehabilitation experts performed bedside massage and rubbing every day to help the elderly recover her functions, and the nursing staff took good care of her, always asking after her well-being.
In the hospital ward, as the anniversary of the victory of the War of Resistance approached, Grandma Yu seemed particularly excited. What Grandma Yu never expected was that, under the meticulous treatment of the medical staff, she received the commemorative medal for the 80th anniversary of the victory of the War of Resistance in the hospital ward, which she had long yearned for.
Yu Nainais daughter was very grateful to the medical staff. She said, "I never thought my mother could actually fulfill her wish in the hospital!"
On September 1st, Grandma Yus daughter specially made a banner to express her gratitude to the medical staff.
