This free clinic activity to protect "heart" health warms people's hearts

On September 28th, as the 26th World Heart Day approached, Hainan Chengmei Hospital organized a public welfare event themed "Protecting Your Heart for Your Hearts Health" in the outpatient hall.

This public welfare event is also one of the series of activities marking the 10th anniversary of Hainan Cancer Hospital. Focusing on the field of heart health, the event aims to enhance public scientific understanding of cardiovascular diseases by providing professional medical consultation, free clinics, and health education services, promoting the concept of "early prevention, early detection, and early treatment" of cardiovascular diseases to take root in peoples hearts.

At the free clinic, renowned experts in the fields of cardiovascular disease, nephropathy, geriatrics, and diabetes gathered together. Facing every citizen who came for consultation, the experts showed great patience, inquiring in detail about past medical history, carefully reviewing examination reports, and using professional knowledge to accurately assess the risk of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, tailoring personalized health management plans. In addition, the experts also combined rich clinical cases, using vivid and easy-to-understand language to explain the prevention points of cardiovascular diseases, early symptom recognition methods, and standardized treatment processes in a simple and profound way, and answered all kinds of questions encountered by citizens in the process of health management one by one.

Ms. Li, a 65-year-old citizen, has been suffering from hypertension for many years and has been worried about her heart health. On that day, she braved the wind and rain and brought her recent physical examination report to the scene to consult with Professor Zheng Yin, a cardiovascular expert. "Professor Zheng is very patient. She not only helped me analyze the examination report, but also told me how to adjust my diet and exercise in daily life. I feel more clear about my health status and know how to take care of myself in the future. Thank you so much!" Ms. Li said with satisfaction.

Ms. Zhang, a 35-year-old young white-collar worker, discovered high blood pressure during a physical examination last year. Due to her youth, she did not take it seriously until recently when she frequently experienced dizziness, at which point she realized the severity of the situation.

After carefully understanding Ms. Zhangs condition, Professor Wu Zhiyong, a well-known cardiovascular disease expert and provincial excellent expert, specially reminded: "Young people with hypertension should pay more attention to it. Long-term neglect can damage organs such as the heart, brain, and kidneys. It is recommended to stay up late less, exercise more, and eat a light diet." Subsequently, Professor Wu formulated a personalized health management plan for Ms. Zhang.

In order to enable more citizens to enjoy tangible health benefits, a variety of free services were provided during the free clinic, covering basic examinations, specialist tests, health assessments, and other aspects. Among them, free services included blood pressure measurement, blood glucose testing, electrocardiogram examination, BMI measurement, body composition analysis, ultrasound bone density examination, infrared therapy, etc.

It is worth mentioning that for residents aged 45 to 74 with registered residence in Haikou City, free early screening and assessment services for five common cancers, including lung cancer, breast cancer, liver cancer, upper gastrointestinal cancer, and colorectal cancer, were specially provided at the free clinic site. This extends health protection into the field of cancer prevention and control, building a "double line of defense" for the health of citizens.

More than 200 citizens participated in the "World Heart Day" event, and they highly praised the public welfare free health services organized by the hospital.
