Important news!

On December 27th, the Affiliated Tumor Hospital of Hainan Medical University was unveiled in Haikou, marking a new historical chapter in the development of tumor prevention and treatment in Hainan Free Trade Port.

To further strengthen the cooperation between the university and the hospital, and leverage the strong faculty resources of Hainan Medical University and the robust technical capabilities of Hainan Cancer Hospital, Hainan Cancer Hospital has officially been designated as the "Affiliated Cancer Hospital of Hainan Medical University", aiming to establish a new benchmark for regional tumor prevention and treatment.

Hainan Medical University bears the important mission of strengthening the port through higher education and building a "Healthy Hainan". In recent years, under the leadership of academician Chen Guoqiang, the university has deepened systematic reforms, changed its name to "Medical University", and achieved leapfrog improvements in academic strength and educational level.

After 10 years of rapid development, Hainan Cancer Hospital has become a tertiary Grade A specialized hospital integrating oncology medical treatment, teaching, scientific research, prevention, healthcare, and rehabilitation, forming a "six-in-one" model. It possesses distinct characteristics and core competitiveness in the field of oncology medical treatment, and earnestly undertakes the important public welfare mission of safeguarding the health of the people in Hainan and surrounding areas.

Through collaboration between universities and hospitals, the aim is to focus on meeting the increasing demand for high-quality oncology medical services from the people in Hainan Province and surrounding areas. This collaboration also takes into account the cultivation of medical talents and the development of oncology clinical research, with a focus on enhancing the service capabilities across the entire chain of tumor prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation, in order to establish a benchmark for regional oncology medical care.

In the future, we will integrate the advantageous resources of both parties to carry out in-depth collaboration in areas such as oncology medical services, targeted medical talent training, oncology discipline construction, and oncology clinical research innovation. We aim to promote the hospital to become a high-level oncology clinical diagnosis and treatment center, a training base for oncology medical talents, and a platform for oncology clinical research and transformation within the region. At the same time, we will build a multi-room proton radiotherapy system that is nationally leading and the first of its kind in the province.

The Affiliated Cancer Hospital of Hainan Medical University will undertake public welfare tasks such as providing basic medical services for oncology within the region, responding to public health emergencies related to oncology, and providing technical assistance for oncology diagnosis and treatment in primary healthcare institutions.

Both parties to the cooperation stipulate that the existing doctoral and master's degree supervisors in the hospital will serve as corresponding graduate supervisors at Hainan Medical University, and participate in the school's graduate student training work according to needs and actual situations. The school will provide guidance and support in areas such as hospital faculty talent team construction, scientific research project approval, paper publication, achievement declaration, achievement transformation, as well as the development of post-graduation education, continuing medical education, and clinical skills center construction.

Both parties will also collaborate to establish an innovative scientific research system, open up scientific research and experimentation platforms, and integrate and share the school's training resources and library databases. By deepening the integration and interconnection of resources and platforms, strengthening complementary advantages, and carrying out in-depth cooperation, they will jointly promote the achievement of high-quality development goals.

Meanwhile, both parties have jointly established a team of graduate supervisors to collaborate on teacher training and scientific research, thereby promoting the development of their respective disciplines. They have also formed a cross-disciplinary, high-level team for oncology clinical research. Focusing on key areas such as the prevention and treatment of high-incidence tumors in the region, precision medicine, and tumor rehabilitation techniques, they conduct in-depth research and facilitate the translation and application of scientific research findings to clinical diagnosis and treatment.

Chen Guoqiang, President of Hainan Medical University and CAS Member, and Jiang Huicheng, Director of Hainan Cancer Hospital, unveiled the "Affiliated Cancer Hospital of Hainan Medical University", jointly witnessing the new journey of cooperation between the university and the hospital.

Jia Bin, Vice President of Hainan Medical University, and Yu Shuyong, President of Hainan Cancer Hospital, signed a cooperation agreement on behalf of both parties.
