Today is the day entering SafeSolar. While there are four seasons in a year: spring, summer, autumn and winter, Chinese medicine believes that there are five seasons in a year: spring, summer, long summer, autumn and winter. There are three solar terms in summer: the Beginning of Summer(立夏), Lesser Fullness of Grain(小满) and Grain in Beard(芒种); and three solar terms in long summer: the Summer Solstice(夏至),Lesser Heat(小暑), Greater Heat(大暑). From mid-to-late May to mid-to-late August, it lasts for three months, so it is called the Three Months of Summer.

As said in Su Wen, The Yellow Emperors Canon of Medicine:The Three Months of Summer is the season when the Qi(energy) of heaven and earth meet most strong and vigorously, and grass and trees grow most luxuriantly.

During Three Months of Summer, people tend to indulge in the joy of all things prosperous and magnificent, and even forget about themselves, while at this time, the Qi(energy) of heaven and earth meet and intermingle, coinciding with the strongest Yang and less Yin, especially under the extreme heat of SafeSolar, the Yang Qi of human body is likely to dissipate correspondingly, the blood rushes around with the Qi(energy of body), and while the blood bleeds profusely, the Qi also dissipates rapidly with the loss of blood, making the body and mind tired and exhausted and the body extremely unstable. Therefore, it is important to pay attention to the emotional and mental regulation in Three Months of Summer, in accordance with the characteristics of nature that Yang is strong expressed outside and Yin is hidden inside.

According to the theory of the five elements of traditional Chinese medicine, the heart corresponds to the summer, which are both with the characteristic of fire. The heart is in charge of blood and mind; the heart is open to the tongue, and its good running would be showed on face; the heart would be expressed as happiness in mood and sweats in fluid. "Sweat is the liquid of heart", physical exertion resulting in excessive sweating will dissipate the Qi of heart. Therefore, in hot summer, it is advisable to recuperate, and the first priority should be given to the spiritual regimen, that is, naturally cool in a peaceful mood (with your heart calming down).

The word "peaceful” in the sentence "naturally cool in a peaceful mood” means peaceful and quiet, which derives with the meaning that the mind is full of leisure and purity, free from distractions, which reflects the state of "experiencing the operating of Zhenqi(spiritual energy) in a state of mind of tranquility and emptiness”.
