Recently, our hospital's nursing team successfully completed the first PICC procedure in Hainan Province using 3CG magnetic navigation combined with intracavitary electrocardiogram technology. This breakthrough application of technology marks the entry of our hospital's venous therapy field into the era of "intelligent precision navigation", providing superior technical support for precise diagnosis and treatment as well as safe nursing care for patients. It also offers safer and more efficient medical solutions for patients with complex and difficult-to-treat conditions.

Ms. Wang, a 59-year-old patient with colon cancer, requires long-term treatment and intends to establish a safe and stable venous access. Hainan Chengmei Hospital invited Yu Shuang, a specialist nurse in vascular access outpatient static therapy, for a hospital-level nursing consultation. After medical and nursing assessments and communication, a 3CG magnetic navigation PICC catheter was successfully placed, making Ms. Wang the first beneficiary in Hainan region to experience the magnetic navigation combined with electrocardiogram signal positioning technology. The catheterization process went smoothly, and there were no postoperative complications.

The entire process of implanting a PICC using 3CG magnetic navigation combined with intracardiac electrocardiogram technology is like equipping the catheter with a "GPS". The nurse can view the catheter's moving path in the blood vessel in real-time through the screen, quickly adjust its direction, and ultimately accurately deliver the catheter tip to the optimal position near the heart.

Addressing the pain points of traditional catheterization techniques, magnetic navigation combined with electrocardiogram (ECG) signal technology integrates magnetic field positioning and ECG signal monitoring into one:

Magnetic navigation: The catheter is embedded with a micro magnet, and the device tracks the catheter's position in real time like a "GPS". The movement trajectory of the catheter in the blood vessel can be clearly seen on the screen, allowing for timely correction of any misplacement.

Intracardiac electrogram localization: When the catheter tip approaches the heart, it captures electrocardiogram signals, helping to confirm whether it has reached the target location.

As one of the first tertiary hospitals in Hainan Province to introduce this technology, the Vascular Access Clinic successfully passed the hospital's new technology application and catheter admission application in August. Going forward, this technology will be extended to areas such as critical illnesses, arrhythmias, and difficult puncture patients, achieving major breakthroughs in precise visualization and real-time regulation. The application of this new technology represents a dual advancement in nursing philosophy and clinical practice, further enhancing the level of intravenous therapy across the hospital and constructing a safer "lifeline" for patients.
