The competition aims to promote teaching and learning, and promote the organic combination of theoretical and practical skill teaching, further improve the skill operation level of clinicians in our hospital, and enhance job competence comprehensively.
In the competition, we set up 2 groups: surgical group and non-surgical group, and adopts scene simulation + multi-station examination mode. The content of the competition is closely connected to the actual clinical work, covering medical history taking, specialized physical examination, auxiliary results interpretation assessment, emergency first aid and specialized skills assessment, etc. The assessment content of the surgical group includes incision and closure, debridement and closure, knotting and removal of wires, dressing, hemostasis, catheterization and so on, while the assessment content of the non-surgical group includes bone marrow puncture, abdominal puncture, lumbar puncture and thoracic puncture, etc.
It is reported that, in order to create a real clinical situation, to create a complete diagnostic and treatment process assessment, in the competition, our hospital selected a standardized patient (SP), that is, a normal person plays the role of a patient of a specific case, to cooperate with the participants in the assessment, which can not only realize a comprehensive assessment of the ability to operate the clinical technology, but also assess the comprehensive ability of clinical thinking, clinical resilience and teamwork.
Dr. Qiu Shanshan of the Gastroenterology Department has registered for the competition for two consecutive year. "Joining the competition is a good way for me to test my learning outcomes, identify deficiencies, and learn to improve them.” She hopes to continue to refine her skills in her ongoing studies to become an excellent clinician.

The competition site was tense and organized with an active and enthusiastic atmosphere. Senior experts from clinical, medical technology, nursing and other departments formed the evaluation team, marking each competition strictly in accordance with the operation scoring standard item by item. "Solid theory, standard perform and comprehensive preparation.” As a judge for the competition, Tu Ruisha, Rotating Director of the Gastrointestinal Oncology Center, fully recognized the overall performance of contestants this year.
The relevant person in charge of Hainan Cancer Hospital and Hainan Chengmei Hospital said that the competition further enhanced the skill operation level of clinicians, providing a platform for young doctors to show themselves, and creating a good learning atmosphere of daring to compete. It is hoped that all clinicians will form the habit of lifelong learning, learn and grow in practice, realize the breakthrough of technical level, reserve talents to accumulate strength for the sustainable development of the hospital, and provide patients with better medical services.
After fierce competition lasting for an entire day, the first, second and third prizes would be awarded the competition seperately for the surgical and non-surgical group, and the results will be announced on August 19th at the Physicians Day Recognition Conference.
